ASID Florida South Chapter
has been working closely with Coverings 2010, the largest and most
important ceramic tile, stone, and floor coverings conference and
exhibition of its kind, and below are the details of how you can take
advantage of this unique, free and local event!
Coverings will be held April 27-30, 2010 in Orlando's Orange County
Convention Center.
The special arrangements for ASID FSC members include:
- Free
bus transportation on Tuesday April 27th departing at 7:30 a.m. from
East Coast-
Design Center of the America's
West Coast- Miromar Design Center.
Note: All buses will be returning
the following day April 28th departing at 3:30pm from the
Orange County Convention Center, arrive back in south
Florida in the early evening.
- You
will be greeted and treated to a free authentic Italian Lunch upon
arrival.
- Be
able to see over 1000 exhibits on over 300,000 Sq Ft of space
select from over 70 FREE educational sessions, along with opportunity
to earn CEU credits

Note:
The Bus transportation, lunch, and many sessions and CEU's are being

for Entries - ASID/FSC 2010 Design Excellence Awards
There are new and exciting changes this year for the 2010 ASID Florida
South Chapter, Design Excellence Awards. The first thing many will
notice is the entry kits. They have been streamlined from the 16 page
application process to a sleek new 2 pages of information and
guidelines accompanied by a 2 page entry form.
Also new this year, are 36 different categories to showcase your
photographed projects. Remember the deadline for entry into this year's
competition is Friday, July 30th, 2010 so if you have projects you are
thinking about entering this year; time still remains to get your work
photographed and submitted for these prestigious awards.
The 2010 Design Excellence Awards will be presented this year on
September 25th, 2010 at the ASID, Keys to Success Celebration, at Hawks
Cay, in Duck Key Florida.
The Keys to Success Celebration, will be a 3-day retreat for ASID
members which will include, HWS CEU Classes, including Codes, a 2-day
Product Expo featuring the latest in products and services catering to
the Design Trade, Key Note speakers who are geared specifically for the
Florida market, Luncheons & cocktail parties located inside the
Product expo, as well as special hotel, resort, spa, and other island
activity pricing, specifically for ASID members.

You for a great Member Evening!
On Wednesday April 7th, ASID Industry Partner, Allied Kitchen & Bath opened
the doors of their newly renovated, 15,000 Sq Foot showroom located at
616 West Oakland Park Blvd in Fort Lauderdale.
Guests were greeted by the friendly staff as well as President, Bill Feinbergand once inside, live
music filled the air along with the sweet aroma's of celebrity Chef, Ralph Pagano, who created many
incredible foods. Desserts, Appetizers, carving stations, and other
surprises greeted the attendees along with a complete open bar to
ensure everyone's favorite libation was to be found.
This two-story state of the art showroom for Contemporary, Traditional
and everything in between, can boast an impressive line of decorative
Plumbing, Hardware, Closet systems, Windows & Doors improvements
and of course a myriad of Kitchen selections.

STEP Classes
|
NCIDQ Exam Preparation
ASID
has long recognized the key role that the NCIDQ examination plays in
design practitioners' career plans. Passage of this rigorous test
signifies the hallmark of professionalism in the interior design
community, and alerts the public to the expertise and experience of the
designer who has met this challenge. To that end, ASID created the STEP
program to provide a broad perspective of the issues and information
pertinent to the NCIDQ exam.
The
STEP workshop is periodically conducted nationwide and is comprised of
20 hours of instruction over a 2 1/2-day period. Participants have the
opportunity to experience practice exams patterned after the newest
NCIDQ and, with the guidance of experienced instructors, determine
which areas require further preparation. Workshop participants
are
provided with a comprehensive workbook that includes practicum
exercises and multiple-choice sections similar to those in the NCIDQ
exam. These practice tests are administered and thoroughly reviewed
during the workshop. The workbook also includes helpful practice exams
that participants may take home with them.

Certificate Renewals!
NCIDQ
is committed to improving the environment and has made great strides in
"going green." We have eliminated many paper processes and have moved
them online.
Your Certificate renewal is one of those processes that was moved
online in late 2007. We no longer send out paper notifications
reminding you that it's time to renew. Instead, we now send out e-mail
reminders.
Your annual renewal deadline is based upon when you completed the exam
(April or October). For some of you, your annual renewal deadline is
fast approaching. If you are one of those individuals, you should have
already received your first e-mail reminder.
In order to ensure you receive this e-mail, and any other e-mail,
always maintain a current e-mail address in MyNCIDQ. Please verify your e-mail
address is current in MyNCIDQ and encourage your colleagues to do the
same.
If your colleagues have not received their renewal e-mails - remind
them to renew online at MyNCIDQunder 'Certificate Renewal'
as well as update their e-mail address.

Congratulations!
For the second
year in a row, ASID Industry Partner, Nepal Rugs & Carpets, has
sponsored and coordinated the ASID FSC Design Contest open to all ASID
members. The rugs could be any design, shape, or design concept of your
choice, using any sustainable products available including, Silk, Wool,
Hemp, or Cactus. Each winning design will be hand made in Nepal over
the spring and summer, then shown & auctioned for charity at the
2010 Keys to Success Celebration taking place September 24th-26th at
Hawks Cay on Duck Key in the beautiful Florida Keys.
The winners this year were selected for their overall concept and
design and each will also be awarded at the Keys to Success
Celebration. Each winner will receive:
