Martin Hershbein, IP (954) 924-0006 Representing Industry Partners mhershbein@duralee.com
Martin Hershbein, IP has been in the home furnishings industry for more than 30 years, having joined his family’s furniture business upon graduation from the University of South Florida. Putting his advertising studies immediately into practice, Martin built on success in marketing and sales over the years to become co-owner and ultimately President of Empire Rattan. The small, family-owned wholesale manufacturer grew to a very large national firm bought by a Fortune 500 company.
In 1994, Martin transitioned to the world of art, beginning a 12-year affiliation with Rosenbaum Fine Art, an internationally recognized leader in fine art publishing, distribution and consulting. Regional and Showroom Manager, Martin oversaw the running of the showroom at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA).
Still a DCOTA showroom manager, Martin has now joined Duralee, the fastest growing decorative fabrics company in the industry today. The family-owner company is known for its versatile fabric collections, detailed trimmings and, since 2003, its fine furniture. With five companies and more than 25,000 sku's in inventory, Duralee caters to the needs of interior designers throughout the world.
Martin’s active involvement in ASID began in 1991, and three years later he served his first term as Industry Partner to the Board. He co-chaired the Design Conference for three consecutive years and has just begun his second year as Financial Director. Honored by the Chapter as Board MVP on two occasions, Martin was also proud to be a recipient of the National Industry Merit Award in 2004, recognition that led to his being named to the National Industry Advisory Council, on which he serves this year.
Lynne Stambouly, ASID, Owner and Lighting Designer for Lighting Solutions & Design Inc., also deemed by her friends and colleges “The Light Lady”, has actively been an A.S.I.D. Industry Partner for just over a decade. Currently acting as the Community Leader for the Lee, Charlotte, and Hendry County, she has been involved in the lighting and electrical field for twenty four years.
Lynne and her staff approach lighting from a different perspective than most showrooms. They truly believe in their slogan. “If you have a lighting problem, we are your lighting solution!” They believe in function first then form. It doesn’t matter how beautiful a fixture is if it doesn’t correctly light your space. They like to get to know their clients. Find out where and how they live in their homes. That way they can more accurately assess the types of lighting required. Only then do they move in to questions you might expect from a lighting store such as, “which style and finishes they are you looking for?”
This unique approach combined with knowledgeable Lighting Solutionists, Designers, and in-house Installers’ on staff allows for a more personalized experience.
Lynne’s goal in taking on the role and responsibility as community leader is to unite and bring a sense of camaraderie, education, and professional motivation to the ASID membership.

I am a long time member of A.S.I.D. My education for the profession was learned in New York City. I have worked in and out of the country and am fortunate to have had such wonderful experiences and met such marvelous people. My strong desire is to educate the public as to what the professional designer is capable of doing. Since leaving New York state I have not been very involved in any committees of A.S.I.D. I am thrilled to be a community leader.
Luis Monzon, Student Member Representing Student Members lmdesigns4u@aol.com
Luis Monzon, ASID. I was born on the island of Cuba. My family and I immigrated to the US when I was two years old. We settled in Miami where I graduated from Miami Senior High School. I worked in the radio business for several years before deciding to go back to school to obtain a degree in Interior Design. Currently, I attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and expect to graduate in December of 2008.
I decided to enter this industry because of my passion for great design and form. Ever since I was a child I enjoyed redesign and space planning. After obtaining a diploma in Residential Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, I immediately set out to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.
Design is more to me than just a discipline it’s a passion. I am looking forward to being employed by an innovative design firm following my graduation. I hope to be given and opportunity to work my magic.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling to many diverse destinations that further enhance my architecture and design talents. I look forward to becoming not just a student of design, but a contributor.
