Dear ASID Florida South Chapter Member (Practitioners and Industry Partners)

Chapter elections are coming shortly.  We are looking to see if you are interested in a position within our Florida South Chapter as a board member.  ASID values volunteers as a most important resource of the Society. We value your current, past, or future involvement and volunteerism with ASID.

We are seeking a mix of professionals who have varied experiences with ASID, the community at large and contributions to the interior design profession. Individuals such as yourself bring a wide variety of knowledge and expertise to ASID and we hope that you will consider participating on the board as a voice of the interior design profession.

Officers and board members must be able to commit the necessary time. There are eight board meetings held throughout the year, some in person, some via conference call.  There are also several conference calls for various activities throughout the year. Board members must prepare for all meetings and preparation time can vary. Being on the ASID, FL South Chapter Board of Directors does require a time commitment, but is very rewarding.

The four board member positions are a two-year commitment. This coming election there are openings for Directors at Large (3), and Membership Director (1).  The positions description is listed on our website.  Each Director’s term is October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2012. Our FSC board consists of 11 members in total with staggering years.

Along with these duties, directors and officers are board liaisons to various committees.

Some of these committees meet face-to-face while others meet through teleconferences.

The length and frequency depends on each committee. An outline of each committee is

given at the time of the appointment.

As a member of the ASID, FL South Chapter Board of Directors, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the direction of the Society and continue its mission ‘Where Design Comes to Life.”  As those of us who continue to volunteer know – the rewards are great and the experiences valuable!
