Types of ASID Membership ProfessionalThe highest level of ASID membership is reserved for practitioners who have completed a course of accredited education and/or equivalent work experience in interior design, and successfully completed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination.Requirements: Proof of passage of the NCIDQ examination. Professional membership in ARIDO (Canada) and CODDI (Puerto Rico) is transferable to ASID upon proof of said membership. AlliedAllied membership is reserved for practicing interior designers who fulfill the following requirements: a four or five year bachelor's degree with a major in interior design or architecture; or a two or three year degree or certificate in interior design.Requirements: Official college transcript and/or technical school records verifying degree obtained. Education ProfessionalEducation Professional membership is reserved for educators who are actively engaged as department chairs or full-time instructors in a post-secondary program of interior design education at any university or accredited school of interior design that requires completion of 40 semester credit hours in interior design-related courses.Requirements: Proof of passage of the NCIDQ examination. Student MembershipStudent membership is available to students enrolled in an interior design program where an ASID student chapter exists. Advancement to Allied Membership: Advancement to Allied Membership is available to student members who have graduated and are eligible for Allied Member status.
